Apple and Cinnamon is a classic flavor combination. The only thing better than eating devouring an apple cinnamon treat is the smell of it baking in your oven. Enjoy!

Cinnamon Apple Twist

  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 3 Tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Apple Filling

  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored and grated
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp coarse sugar

Glaze

  • 1/2 cup icing sugar
  • 1 Tbsp milk
  • Drop of vanilla

Mix the dry ingredients together in the bowl of your stand up mixer. Add the milk, butter, egg and vanilla and mix for 5 minutes with a bread hook.

Turn the dough into greased bowl, cover with plastic and allow to rise in a warm and draft-free area for 2 hours.

Combine all filling ingredients except for the coarse sugar into a medium bowl and toss. Set aside. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Turn dough onto a floured surface and press down gently to deflate. Divide the dough in half and roll each half into an 11-inch square. Spread the filling over both squares of dough and roll them up forming a log.

Place each log on the baking tray. Using a pizza cutter, slice each log lengthwise. With the filling side up, twist the log halves together and pinch the ends to seal. Repeat with the second log.

Cover and allow to rise in a draft-free area for 90 minutes and sprinkle with coarse sugar.

Preheat oven to 350°F and bake the twists for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before icing.

Combine the glaze ingredients into a small bowl and whisk through. Drizzle over cooled loaves.
