There something festive about these cookies. Festive enough to put a giant smile on a very special girl’s face! Remember this cake from last year?
I made these with my niece in mind and she even helped me to roll them out.
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Drop of almond extract, optional
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup sprinkles
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Cream the butter until smooth and add sugar and mix until light and fluffy. Mix in egg, vanilla and almond extract.
Sift the rest of the ingredients except the sprinkles into the wet ingredients and stir in using a wooden spoon until lump free. Add the sprinkles and mix until the dough is uniform. Roll the dough into 1 tablespoon balls and space about 3 inches apart on a parchment lined baking tray. Bake for 7-10 minutes until centers are set and edges are just barely brown.
