This cake is pure nostalgia for me. It takes me back to my London days where I could easily take back an entire package of Orange Jaffa Cake Cookies in one sitting. Don’t judge me…
Orange Chocolate Jaffa Cake
- 1 ½ cup sugar
- 2 Tbsp orange zest
- 2 ½ cup flour
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 4 eggs
- 2/3 cup canola oil or grapseed oil
- 2/3 cup orange juice
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2/3 cup chopped dark chocolate, semi-sweet
- ½ cup whipping cream
- 1 Tbsp honey
Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease your bundt pan with cooking spray or butter and flour.
Mix the sugar, orange zest with your fingers in a large bowl to release some of the oils. Whisk in the rest of the dry ingredients.
In a small bowl, mix the wet ingredients and pour into the dry ingredients. Mix through with a rubber spatula until combined. Turn the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 55-60 minutes.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15 minutes before releasing it onto a cooling rack.
In the meantime, heat the cream in a small saucepan until very hot but not boiling. Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips and honey and stir through until the chocolate is completely melted and the ganache is a uniform consistency.
Place the cake on a cake plate and drizzle the ganache overtop allowing some of it to drizzle off the edges. Cool at room temperature until the chocolate is set. Serve with a bit cup of tea!
